Nadia and Stevenson had been together for nearly five years. Everyone who knew them believed their relationship was heading straight toward marriage.
Nadia loved Stevenson with all her heart. She trusted him completely and saw her future by his side. What she didn’t know was that Stevenson had been living a double life behind her back.
One afternoon, Nadia was sitting in a restaurant with a friend when her phone rang.
“Hello, sweetheart,” Stevenson said.
“Hello, my love. How’s your day going?”
“Pretty good. I’m still at work.”
Nadia smiled.
“Don’t work too hard. I want to see you tonight.”
“I’ll do my best.”
When the call ended, Nadia placed her phone back on the table.
She had no idea that Stevenson was not at work at all.
At that very moment, Stevenson was lying on a hotel bed with another woman named Bianca.
Bianca ran her hand across his chest.
“Are you still lying to your girlfriend?”
Stevenson laughed.
“It’s not about lying. I just haven’t found the right time to leave her yet.”
“You always say the same thing.”
“I’m serious.”
“I don’t believe you.”
Stevenson pulled her closer.
“I love you.”
Bianca looked him straight in the eyes.
“Sometimes I wonder if a man who betrays a woman for me will eventually betray me too.”
Stevenson had no answer.
Just then, his phone started ringing.
He glanced at the screen.
Nadia.
He frowned.
“I’ll take this call quickly.”
He got off the bed and answered.
“Hello, sweetheart.”
But this time, Nadia’s voice was different.
She was trembling.
“Stevenson…”
“What’s wrong?”
“I have news for you.”
“What news?”
Silence.
After a few seconds, Nadia finally spoke.
“I’m pregnant.”
Stevenson’s heart nearly stopped.
“What?”
“You’re going to be a father.”
Stevenson was speechless.
Bianca, still sitting on the bed, had heard everything.
Her eyes widened.
“A father?”
Stevenson turned toward her.
“Bianca…”
“A father? You’re going to be a father?”
“Let me explain.”
“You told me you were leaving her!”
“Listen—”
“I’m tired of your lies!”
Bianca jumped to her feet in a rage.
She shoved Stevenson.
“You used me!”
“Stop!”
“You’re a liar!”
She struck him with all her strength.
Stevenson tried to restrain her.
But the situation quickly spiraled out of control.
They began struggling.
As Bianca fought to break free from Stevenson’s grip, she slipped.
Stevenson reached out to catch her.
But it was too late.
CRAAASH!
The window shattered.
A horrifying scream filled the room.
Bianca disappeared.
Stevenson rushed to the broken window.
When he looked down…
His blood ran cold.
Bianca was lying motionless on the ground.
Blood was everywhere.
She wasn’t moving.
She was dead.
⸻
A few minutes later, the police and an ambulance arrived.
The hotel manager had called them immediately.
Stevenson was shaking.
He couldn’t believe what had happened.
A police officer placed handcuffs on him.
“You are under arrest.”
“I didn’t mean for this to happen!”
“You have the right to remain silent.”
“It was an accident!”
But no one wanted to hear it.
⸻
When Nadia received the news, her world shattered.
She went to the police station.
Stevenson was sitting behind the bars.
His eyes were filled with tears.
“Nadia…”
But Nadia didn’t even let him finish.
“Why?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why?”
“I made a mistake.”
“A mistake?”
Nadia began to cry.
“While I was calling to tell you that your child was on the way, you were in a hotel with another woman?”
Stevenson lowered his head.
Nadia felt as though a knife were twisting inside her stomach.
Every dream she had ever built vanished in a single moment.
She turned her back on him.
“I never want to see you again.”
Then she walked away.
⸻
Two months later, the trial began.
Stevenson’s attorney argued that Bianca’s death had been an accident.
But the prosecutor showed that the struggle had directly led to her death.
After several weeks…
The judge delivered the verdict.
“The court hereby sentences Stevenson Pierre to twenty (20) years in prison.”
Nadia closed her eyes.
Stevenson felt his legs give way beneath him.
His life was over.
⸻
The end
