It was 6:00 a.m.
Michael, a taxi driver in his late thirties, woke up feeling unusually optimistic.
He looked at his phone and smiled.
In three hours, he was supposed to visit Sarah, a woman he had been talking to for several months.
Today was important.
Sarah had promised him an answer.
Would she finally agree to start a serious relationship with him?
Michael couldn’t stop thinking about it.
As he got dressed, his phone rang.
A new ride request.
1 hour and 10 minutes – $65.
Michael grinned.
— “Not bad for the first ride of the day.”
He grabbed his keys and headed out.
⸻
The Phone Call
When he arrived at the passenger’s address, his phone rang.
It was Sarah.
Michael immediately answered.
— “Good morning, beautiful.”
Sarah laughed.
— “Always trying to charm me, huh?”
— “Only because it works.”
— “Where are you?”
— “Starting my first ride.”
— “Well, remember what I told you. In three hours I’ll be home waiting for you.”
Michael’s heart started racing.
— “So you’re really going to give me your answer today?”
— “Maybe.”
— “Sarah!”
She laughed again.
— “Just get here on time.”
— “Trust me, I’ll be there.”
— “We’ll see.”
The call ended.
Michael sat there smiling like a teenager.

Scene 3 – The Nervous Passenger
A woman rushed out of the house carrying a suitcase.
She looked stressed.
The moment she entered the taxi she said:
— “Please tell me you know the fastest route to the airport.”
— “Of course.”
— “Good. My flight leaves soon and I absolutely cannot miss it.”
— “Don’t worry. I’ll get you there.”
The woman relaxed slightly.
But Michael wasn’t paying full attention.
His mind was somewhere else.
Sarah.
Her smile.
Her answer.
His future.
The passenger kept talking throughout the trip.
Michael nodded politely, but most of the words went in one ear and out the other.
⸻
The Wrong Exit
After almost an hour on the highway, the airport finally appeared ahead.
The GPS announced:
“Arrival in 6 minutes.”
The passenger sighed with relief.
— “Thank God.”
But then it happened.
Michael accidentally took the wrong exit.
The GPS immediately recalculated.
20 minutes remaining.
Silence.
Then…
— “WHAT?!”
The passenger nearly jumped out of her seat.
— “Are you serious?!”
Michael’s face turned pale.
— “I’m sorry. I missed the exit.”
— “You MISSED THE EXIT?”
— “It was an honest mistake.”
— “An honest mistake is forgetting your umbrella! This is my flight!”
She began complaining nonstop.
But strangely enough, Michael was even more upset than she was.
Every extra minute increased the chances of missing Sarah.
⸻
Lost Again
Trying to recover lost time, Michael followed the GPS through unfamiliar roads.
Then he reached a roundabout.
He was supposed to take the second exit.
Instead…
He took the wrong one again.
— “Oh no.”
— “WHAT NOW?!” the passenger screamed.
— “I think we’re lost.”
— “YOU THINK?!”
The passenger grabbed her head.
Michael wanted the ground to swallow him whole.
⸻
The Security Checkpoint
A few minutes later they reached a restricted entrance.
A security gate blocked the road.
Cars were lining up.
A police officer was checking IDs.
The passenger looked at her watch.
— “This is a nightmare.”
When Michael finally reached the front, he rolled down the window.
— “Officer, I’m lost. I’m trying to get to the airport.”
The officer pointed.
— “You need to turn around and follow that road.”
Then he extended his hand.
— “License, please.”
Michael reached for his back pocket.
Nothing.
His smile disappeared.
He checked again.
Nothing.
His wallet.
His wallet was at home.
The officer frowned.
— “You don’t have your license?”
— “I… forgot my wallet.”
The officer stared at him.
— “Pull over to the side.”
Michael felt his stomach drop.
⸻
Total Chaos
The passenger had heard enough.
She threw the door open and stormed out.
— “I KNEW IT!”
She marched around the car and pointed at Michael.
— “First you get lost! Then you get lost AGAIN! Now you don’t even have your license?!”
The officer stepped between them.
— “Ma’am, calm down.”
But she was furious.
— “My flight is gone because of this man!”
She grabbed Michael by the collar.
— “Do you know how much this ticket cost me?!”
Michael looked completely defeated.
The officer pulled her back.
Cars behind them started honking.
Everything had become chaos.
Then…
RING!
RING!
RING!
Michael blinked.
The police officer vanished.
The passenger vanished.
The airport vanished.
He opened his eyes.
Darkness.
His bedroom.
His phone ringing on the nightstand.
Michael sat up, breathing heavily.
— “Wait…”
He looked around.
— “It was all a dream?”
His phone kept ringing.
He answered.
A familiar voice spoke.
— “Good morning, sleepyhead.”
It was Sarah.
She laughed.
— “Don’t tell me you’re still sleeping. Aren’t you supposed to come see me today?”
Michael wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled.
— “Trust me… after the dream I just had, I’m definitely coming on time.”
THE END 😄
